packing for a trip

“proper packing takes time”

we are going to do some packing and organizing. there’s no better feeling than traveling and knowing that you have everything and that it’s organized. i’ve gotten pretty good at packing.

pick the right suitcase – the first thing is to pick the right suitcase for the trip. sometimes, we choose luggage based on how long the trip is and that is a factor but what matters more is what kind of trip you are going on. for example, if it’s a beach vacation, you’re pretty much in a swimsuit all day. you could pack a carry on.

plan outfits – packing outfits that you love ahead of time helps save time when you arrive at your destination. getting ready will be easy and you’re making the most of your trip instead of worrying about what to wear. i try everything on and make my outfits that i want to wear for each day. on my bed, each pile of clothes equals an outfit. this is my visual list. if you have a rack that you can put them on even better. it’s really helpful to see everything visually. this helps so you’re not under or over packing.

photo album – something else that helps me stay organized is to then take pictures of the outfits i’ve made. this helps you reference how you put the outfit together. i use the photos app to organize the outfit photos in an album. name the album after the location.

packing cubes – another thing that is helpful is to have packing cubes to put all of your clothes in. packing cubes help with space. they are inexpensive and make traveling so much easier. it’s a good system and i highly recommend it. thank you Amazon for this partnership.

handwritten list – this list will be customizable to you. i divide this list into essentials, skincare, body care, haircare, clothes, accessories and technology. go in the order that you would do your makeup or shower routine. this helps to make the list and not forget anything.

toiletry cases – toiletry bags will keep you organized. having separate cases is great for organizing makeup, electronics and skin care products. you won’t have to dig around for what you need because everything stays together.

schedule beauty appointments – this is such a nice extra step to take so you feel and look your best. i make sure to schedule some beauty appointments like nails and eyebrows.
