natural sweeteners

when the sweet tooth hits you want to go for these healthier sugars. all of these sweeteners are still sugar but these sweeteners actually have nutrients and health benefits. the best thing we can do for our health is to reduce the amount of sugar we eat. a good and simple way to do that is to replace with these natural sweeteners when possible.

dates – dates are seriously nature’s candy. they are 100% whole fruit. dates are soft fruits that taste like caramel and are a good source of fiber. they have nutrients like potassium and magnesium.

manuka honey – honey is probably everyone’s favorite sweetener. manuka honey is extra special because it has healing properties and is packed with antioxidants. manuka honey is ideal for baking.

real maple syrup- maple syrup contains mineral like zinc, calcium, iron, manganese, potassium. pick a grade b maple syrup. you don’t want anything additional added.

fruits – fruits are seriously the best substitute. apples, bananas, berries, mango all have natural sugar but also vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. if you need to sweeten yogurt, oatmeal or a cake, try adding fruit before adding another sweetener.
