how to use baking soda

baking soda is a natural detergent and has so many uses like washing and deodorizing. the cleaning power of baking soda is amazing. i usually buy a 3.5 pound bag because i can get so many uses out of it. i also buy the 1 pound box because that also gets a lot of use. i hope you find this post to be simple, practical and useful.

greasy pans and hood filter above oven – use baking soda for any greasy items. it cleans the grease off pretty well. it is so useful in dishwashing.

clean fruits and vegetables – it can remove most pesticides.

containers with food smells – add about 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda and water and shake. rinse with water and leave the container out to dry for a day.

shoe cabinet – you can take a fine mesh bag, double it up and add some baking soda.

refrigerator and freezer –  baking soda will absorb any fragrant food smells.

fabric like a couch or carpet – sprinkle a bit of baking soda, let it sit for 5-10 minutes then vacuum.

  1. Just picked up a 3.5 lb bag yesterday 🤣 recently I started cleaning my tub with some baking soda sprinkled & then spray/ pour a bit of vinegar. It works so well!

I’ve also seen baking soda used for laundry but have yet to try! Can you do a post on whitening clothes? I have the hardest time keeping my toddlers socks & shirts white 🥲
