"we live by faith, not by sight"
oh, easter. easter time is one of the most looking forward to celebration when it comes to honoring God. it is one of the most spiritual and sacred holidays for us Christians. on Easter Sunday, we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.
i am wishing you the hope of new beginnings Easter brings. i hope you have a Sunday full of family, nourishing food made throughout the day by careful and loving hands and all of the Easter things. i always hope that we are all lucky enough. i hope that this love and warmth can be felt from afar. have a beautiful Easter.
some Easter traditions to enjoy:
easter sunday church service – as Easter is well respected, we try to make sure to attend church and only eat fish during Lent. Lent is a liturgical time that precedes Easter. Easter festivities start on Palm Sunday. we receive small crosses from palm leaves as a reminder of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem and His death on the cross. we keep these in our home all year as a symbol of our faith.
easter eggs – easter eggs are a symbol of new life. chicken eggs are boiled then decorated by hand.
easter egg hunt – popular with both Christian and non-Christian children. an egg hunt is always a success. cheers to whoever finds the most eggs.
easter basket – a favorite tradition. is there a better kind of basket to receive besides a bread basket!
easter dessert – desserts always do the trick. this can be strawberry shortcake (an easter must in our home) or some hot cross buns.
easter brunch – this is the best part. sitting down at the table with the intention of being together with your family and friends and enjoying a meal together. the last supper kind of vibe. our food is traditional and has some bibilical references. roast lamb is the main meal and it represents Abraham’s sacrifice to God. we also have folar, which is a loaf of bread that have boiled eggs on top. the hard boiled egg represents the resurrection and the cross on top symbolizes the crucifixion.
easter dress – it might be a little too cold for a dress but definitely dress up for the day. if you go to church, you know all about your Sunday best and wearing your new outfit to church.
easter walk – the magic of an early spring- fresh air and sunshine. how easily we’ve forgotten what it’s like to throw the doors and windows open and listen to the birds singing. even the trees are working overtime to make our spring dreams complete. even if it’s a moody little spring day, spend some time outside.
Easter is the perfect time to forgive, and reflect on new beginnings. Love all of these Easter traditions 🐣🌸💞
