mint tea is one of those teas that you should definitely keep in your kitchen cabinet. the dried form of mint tea is pretty good but fresh mint leaves takes things to a whole new level. i love tea all year round but especially in the winter. it feels so good to wrap your hands around a nice cup of hot tea when it’s cold. it’s super easy to make a fresh cup of mint tea at home.

- INGREDIENTS:
- - fresh mint leaves
- - 1/2 teaspoon raw organic honey - optional
- - fresh lemon - optional
- METHOD:
- get a bunch of fresh mint leaves and give them a good wash with cold water. add the leaves (the and cold water to a saucepan/kettle and bring to a boil. remove from the heat and pour into your cup while hot. mint tea is perfect on its own; however you can add a little honey if you’d like or squeeze in some fresh lemon for an extra zing.
- NOTES:
- promotes digestion - it lessens the amount of time food spends in the stomach by stimulating the gastric lining. it's also perfect to soothe an upset stomach.
- reduces stress - mint tea will leave you feeling focused, recharged and stress free. the aromatic smell of menthol stimulates the hippocampus, which controls mental clarity.
- induces sleep - it's a good option before bed because it's naturally caffeine free and its calming properties will help you unwind before bed. i like to enjoy mint tea with a piece of dark chocolate as part of my nighttime ritual.
- eases bloating - it helps with bloating by relaxing and soothing the digestive tract. it reduces the feeling of feeling full.
