
"the new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written"
we always feel so motivated around this time of year. there’s a beautiful energy and it feels good to want a fresh start. i’ve always thought that although we don’t have to wait for a new year, i do enjoy this time. there is so much value in slowing down and reflecting on what can be done and propel us forward in the right direction. everything in life takes practice and there is joy in achieving things because you work at it.
make this year your best year ever by prioritizing the following areas of your life:
1. quality relationships – history has time and time again shown the value of quality relationships and meaningful connections.
2. nature – spending time in nature and sunshine reduces stress and exposes you to natural sunlight. theres nothing like spending mornings outside among nature and birds chirping.
3. sleep – prioritize quality sleep, it’s how our bodies heal themselves from the day.
4. nutrition – hydrate and eat well with fresh produce and whole foods to support your immune system.
5. mind – nurture your mind by reading, reflecting- checking in with yourself (this could mean journaling) and meditating which helps your stress and anxiety levels go down. we make better decisions when we feel calm and peaceful.
6. movement – move your body every single day, 20 minutes is all you need. find something you love to do, so it’s easy to want to do it. when you’re exercising and moving your body, you’re producing feel good neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine!
7. gratitude – practice gratitude. i know this can feel a little cheesy but research shows that practicing gratitude daily can increase happiness.
8. self-care – make time for self-care. self care is more than just looking good on the outside. e.g., waking up early because it makes you feel prepared for the day, making to-do lists or planning something fun.
